Knowing mathematics would help lawyers have better arguments

If law students were taught to follow the steps of mathematical logic, they would learn to deduce, to infer, to generalize and to abstract, tools that would help them obtain fairer results in legal matters that they bring as lawyers.
That criterion and way of reasoning is learned with mathematics, which in real life helps people, regardless of their profession or occupation, to find the problems more than one solution, so that the interested party chooses the most optimal, plausible or the least expensive.
Algebra teaches us that there are different methods to solve the same equation. So what a student does is learn, through the superficial analysis of that same equation, which could be the most appropriate method to solve it, and once detected the method applies it, as an optimal solution.
However, mathematics teachers must be careful not to send the wrong message that the important thing is to solve the equations. In order not to lose the true value of the teaching of mathematics, the virtues of mathematical methodology and not the mechanization of operations must be emphasized.
In addition, emphasis should be placed on the depth of understanding, and in the long term, on the acquisition of a mathematical culture, so that in any course of this discipline students must be informed about what they are going to learn, how they are going to learn it and what they are going to learn.
However, throughout history teachers have taught students that the important thing is to mechanically develop the mathematical tool we use. And no, the most important thing is to understand what it is for, understand where it came from, how it evolved, how it came to us as it is.
But to be a common practice in the classroom to encourage students to memorize a formula (another mathematical tool), which they soon forget, it is understood why in each school year you have to remind them or teach mathematics, that if the student understood them I would not have to memorize them.
Therefore the distinguished academic of the Iberia, attached to the UNAM, stressed as one of the main virtues of mathematics that through these you learn to think and solve any problem, through the tools of mathematical thinking: analysis, deduction, induction, abstraction, synthesis, generalization, rigor, structuring, conciseness, self-sufficiency, organization and valorization.
Having a paradigm shift in the teaching-learning methodology of mathematics will require having a mathematical culture that is not limited exclusively to the use of symbolism, formulas and equations, but will be complemented by the study of the history of mathematics, for that is understood why their elementary concepts originated, how they developed and what is their application in real life.
