Blood alcohol test and how long it stays in the body

Introduction
The blood alcohol content, or BAC, is one of the ways most commonly used to determine if a person has been drinking alcohol, and how much a person has consumed. Although the breathalyzer test can tell a person’s BAC to know the contents of current blood alcohol it is necessary to use a blood test.
Process
A blood test to determine the alcohol content is taken in the same way as any other blood test, using a needle. The needle is inserted into the vein and a collection tube is inserted into the part rear of the needle. The needle is removed, and the collection tube is sent to the laboratory for analysis. Laboratory tests estimate the level of ethanol in the blood stream, returning the result as a percentage, any alcohol content greater than 0.08 is considered blood above the legal limit.
Time
When alcohol is consumed, the ethanol is released into the bloodstream. Ethanol is a target substance in most blood alcohol testing. According to the doctor Dr. David J. Hanson, up to 10% ethanol leaves the body through sweat, breath and urine. The rest must be metabolized out of the body through the liver. The time it takes alcohol to leave the blood flow is directly dependent on the speed at which the body can metabolize alcohol.
Metabolism
Alcohol metabolism occurs in the liver. When ethanol a drink alcoholic reaches the liver, special enzyme called alcohol dehydrogenase used to convert ethanol to acetaldehyde, which is then transformed enzymes in acetic acid, or vinegar. This process takes about an hour to transform half ounce (25 ml) of ethanol. This means that your blood alcohol content falls around 0.015% per hour. For example, a blood alcohol content of 0.05 would take approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes outside the body metabolized.
